Game Summary
2009 : City 21, County 17
A 59-yard touchdown pass with 58 seconds remaining vaulted the City to a thrilling 21-17 win. Corey Ratliff of East hit Brandon Marlow of Strong Vincent with the decisive toss. The City got its final chance when Robert Joyce of Strong Vincent intercepted a pass at the City 26 with 1:44 remaining. Ratliff began the closing drive by finding Robert Carson of Mercyhurst Prep for a 15-yard completion. After an incompletion, he connected with Marlow on the County 15. The 240-pound tight end shook off a tackle and powered into the end zone. The TD catch was the second of the night for Marlow, who hauled in a 20-yarder from Ratliff in the second quarter. Ratliff fired 39 yards to Joyce for the City’s opening score. Ray Blanks of Cathedral Prep kicked all 3 extra points. The County tied the game at 7-7 on a 1-yard run by Eric Albrecht of Union City. The score was set up by a 42-yard pass from Kellin O’Neill of General McLane to Fairview’s Brooks Linkoski. Colin Feeney of Fort LeBoeuf’s recovery set the stage for Andy Krahe of Iroquois to kick a 24-yard field goal, leaving a 14-10 City lead at the half. Curtis Bailey of North East fired 6 yards to Northwestern’s Kyle Maio early in the fourth quarter to lift the County in front 17-14. Garrett Stolz of Fairview kicked both extra points. Ratliff hit on 6 of 13 passes for 166 yards. Marlow caught 3 for 100 yards. Brooks rushed 14 times for 60 yards.
