Game Summary
1945 : West 11, East 0
This game was played in miserable weather conditions, with the temperature at zero. Ray Hedderick of McDowell returned an interception 54 yards for the game’s only touchdown. Joe Zuravleff of Tech caught the PAT pass. The West also recorded two safeties when Joe Lohse of Wesleyville and Al Reidel of East recovered fumbles in the end zone. The East was limited to minus 4 yards rushing. West stars included Hedderick, Zuravleff and Jack Strucher of Strong Vincent. Bob Morgan of Academy and Bob Swanson of East were East standouts. This game was the first in the series in which Lowell Drake did not participate as a coach. He had been on the sidelines for the six previous Save-An-Eye games.

Game Summary
1946: East 6, West 0
Chuck Brasington of East returned a blocked punt 24 yards for the game’s only score. Brasington blocked the punt of Len Kubiak of Tech in the fourth quarter. The West dominated the stats, but not the scoreboard. The West rushed for 122 yards while limiting the East to 29. The staunch East defense featured East’s Burly B’s, Brasington, Bob Bender and Leo Beill. Jack Wilson of Corry was also a star for the winners. In the fourth quarter he punted out of bounds at the 13-yard line. He then intercepted a pass and followed with a punt out of bounds at the West 10. Wilson iced the win with an interception in the final minute. Kubiak, Johnny Arkelian and Pete Panetta of Strong Vincent, Adam Gorski, Gary Orr and Fred Schroeck of Prep were standouts for the West.
