Game Summary
1953 : City 12, County 6
A staunch City defense, which stopped four County drives inside the 30-yard line, was decisive. Mike Rocco of Academy passed 7 yards to Phil Wedzik of East for the first City score. Jim Lynch of Prep ran 37 yards for the other touchdown. Lynch had 15 carries for 140 yards in the game. Bill Vorscheck of Lawrence Park blocked a punt in the fourth quarter to set up the County TD. Vorscheck then caught 2 passes for 19 yards before Steve Woitovich of Girard ran 13 yards for the touchdown. Vorscheck caught 5 passes for 105 yards. The County had a first-and-goal at the 2-yard line in the closing minutes, but was stopped by the City defense. Three runs resulted in losses back to the 24-yard line. A fourth-down pass netted 7 yards, but proved meaningless. The City had a 208-27 advantage in rushing yardage.

Game Summary
1954: City 14, County 0
Fumble recoveries set up both City touchdowns. Ken Legenzoff of East covered a loose ball on the 4-yard line with 50 seconds left in the first half. The recovery ended a long County march which featured Jack Yount of Lawrence Park, Norm Troyer of Union City and Dell Shields of Waterford. The City went the distance in 3 plays. Tim Holland of Cathedral Prep ran for 46 yards. Mel Laskoff of East passed 27 yards to Dana Tomczak of Prep. Pete Alex of Tech then hit Tomczak for a 23-yard touchdown pass. Tomczak made a leaping catch in the corner of the end zone as the half ended. Don Burger of Academy recovered a fumble to set up Holland’s 13-yard run for a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter. Laskoff kicked both extra points. The City had a 127-18 edge in passing.
