| The start of the game was delayed 15 minutes due to rain. Despite the weather,
12,000 fans attended. Ron Costello of Cathedral Prep and Art Baker of Academy
starred for the City. The County owned an early 2-0 lead when Connie French of
Corry tackled Costello in the end zone on attempted pass. Costello passed 6 yards
to Hal Redinger of Strong Vincent for the first touchdown. Baker led a drive
for the second City TD. His 17-yard run on fourth-and-8 was the key play. Baker
went the final 5 yards on the next play. Dan Woitovich of Girard hit 5 of 12
passes for 50 yards for the County. Bob Lugo of Prep and Gene Tomczak of Prep
aided the City ground game. Costello, headed for Xavier, hit 6 of 10 passes for
80 yards. Baker, a Syracuse signee, picked up 49 yards on 10 carries. |

| Gary Valerio of Strong Vincent blocked a punt and returned it 42 yards to set
up the first City touchdown. Leon Ott of Academy scored on a double reverse.
Walt Litz of Tech kicked the extra point. John Zack of Prep recovered a fumble
on the County 9-yard line. One play later Litz passed 6 yards to Tom Walkiewicz
of Prep for the touchdown. Dick Feidler of McDowell recovered a fumble on the
City 11-yard line to set up the County’s only TD. Lee Williams of Corry
scored on a 3-yard run. Walkiewicz broke up 2 pass plays midway through the fourth
quarter to end a County threat. Barney Rutkowski of Wesleyville completed two
passes in the final minute before time elapsed, ending the final County threat.
