Summary |
1972:
County 14, City 12
|
| Scott Millhouse of McDowell passed to Blaine Kibler of Girard for two touchdowns. The tosses of 39 and 20 yards gave the County a 14-0 halftime edge before the City rallied with 10,000 fans watching. Millhouse hit 5 of 11 passing for 112 yards and rushed for 30 yards. Tom Ferraro of Fairview led the County ground game. Dave Ciacchini of McDowell had a punt return to set up the first touchdown. Millhouse then fired 39 yards to Kibler on the next play. The Millhouse-to-Kibler combo clicked again from 20 yards out with 4 seconds left in the half. Ciacchini ran the pivotal 2-point conversion. Jeff Satyshur of East took over at quarterback for the City in the second half. Jimmy Jones of Academy, who had 85 yards on 19 rushes, had the first City TD on a 2-yard run. He later scored from 1 yard out, but the PAT was stopped short to preserve the win with 24 seconds left. |
