Russ Madonia of Prep rushed
22 times for 100 yards and the City squelched a County
comeback. Madonia’s production was aided by the blocking
of Tim Holland of Prep. Dave Andrews of Academy had a 1-yard
touchdown run. Tim Tyzinski of Prep ran 12 yards for a
TD. Andrews threw to Rick Bengel of Prep for one conversion,
Madonia running for another. Kevin Horton of McDowell kicked
a 32-yard field for the County. Tom Rozantz, Fairview’s
All-County quarterback, led a second-half rally despite
suffering from a knee injury. Rozantz hit former Fairview
teammate Larry Loper with a 11-yard TD. Larry Fish of Fort
LeBoeuf gained 20 yards rushing on the drive. Bob Bengel
intercepted a Rozantz pass with 1:38 left to halt the final
County drive. It was Bengel’s second interception.
Andrews hit 6 of 10 passing for 64 yards. Rozantz connected
on 3 of 6 throws for 37 yards. |

Steve Barney of Academy scored
both City touchdowns and Jeff Dolak of Tech kicked a huge
extra point as 9,000 watched. Barney tallied on runs of
16 and 17 yards. Ron Biletnikoff of Seneca had two TD catches.
Dolak intercepted a pass on the opening County drive which
led to the first TD. Allan Powell of Strong Vincent gained
25 yards as the City moved 80 yards in the second quarter.
Barney found Dolak for a key19-yard gain, Barney going
the final 17 for the TD. Tom Cleary of Harborcreek recovered
a fumble in the third quarter. Joe Kurung of Fairview passed
26 yards to Biletnikoff, then tossed 6 yards to Biletnikoff
for the touchdown. A PAT pass fell incomplete. Kurung passed
27 yards to Brad Horky of McDowell on the other County
march. Biletnikoff grabbed a 16-yarder for the touchdown.
A pass for the extra point failed. Powell rushed 16 times
for 96 yards. Doug James of Tech netted 44 yards on 9 carries.
Kurung hit 8 of 18 passing for 108 yards. Horky had 2 catches
for 41 yards. Rich Smith of Northwestern rushed 7 times
for 31 yards. |
