Eric Mikovch of Northwestern threw for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mikovch found his target on 8 of 14 throws. He connected with Doug Kubiak of Fort LeBoeuf for a 17-yard touchdown pass and fired 27 yards to Lou LaFuria of North East for another score. Terry Brown of General McLane contributed an 18-yard TD run. Scott Lane of Fairview had 3 conversion kicks. The only City touchdown came with 1:38 left and went to Herman Gamble of Tech, on a 13-yard pass reception from Mark Soboleski of McDowell. That score was set by a fumble recovery by Jeff Platz of Fairview. Kubiak had 4 catches for 74 yards, LaFuria with 2 grabs for 39 yards. Brown was the top County ground gainer with 14 runs for 60 yards. Ted Byham of Girard had 3 carries for 32 yards, Ed Hess of Harborcreek with 6 for 30 yards. Game Summary
1988: City 13, County 6

This game ended early when officials stopped play with 1:31 on the clock after a brawl broke out. Sean Cooney of McDowell had just intercepted a pass to end a final County drive before the skirmish erupted. The County took the early lead on a 42-yard run by John Wolf of Seneca. The City answered when Jim Toohey of Prep found Brian Stablein for a 24-yard touchdown pass. The kick by Bob Bland of East moved the City ahead 7-6. Sam Carroll of Tech added the other TD on a 3-yard run with 6 minutes to play. Darrell Gamble of Tech had 103 yards rushing on 18 carries. Pat Ott of Prep and Carroll both finished with 33 yards on the ground. Wolf had 10 runs for 80 yards. Toohey clicked on 2 of 5 passes for 34 yards. Stablein had both City receptions. Jeff Sorenson of Fort LeBoeuf hit 4 of 13 passes for 54 yards and also caught a pass for 20 yards. Terry O’Connor of Harborcreek had 2 catches for 37 yards. Chris Grychowski of Prep was outstanding at defensive end. He was credited with 15 tackles and 4 sacks. Cooney’s interception and a fumble recovery by Craig Zarzeczny of Harborcreek were the only turnovers.
